NMDA Introduces New Certified Organic Logo

Organic Logo

Residents in New Mexico have a new tool to help them identify organic products under a new program at New Mexico Department of Agriculture (NMDA).  “This was formally known as the New Mexico Organic Commodity Commission, but now it is part of NMDA, which means we have employees who certify organic products throughout the state according to USDA’s National Organic Program guidelines,” said Jeff Witte, NMDA director/secretary.

NMDA has created a new logo to help consumers identify organic products at their local retail stores.  “More and more consumers want organic products, and it’s not just organic produce they are looking for.  This simple and recognizable logo will help them choose the products that are certified organic and make sure they are getting what they pay for,” added Noreen Jaramillo, NMDA public information officer.

NMDA’s Organic Program office will be housed in Albuquerque, NM.
