Commercial Feed
Feed, Seed, & Fertilizer personnel inspect manufacturers, distributors, dairies, ranches, pet stores, and retail establishments that deal in animal feed. Samples are collected to assure they meet label claims. Producers must comply with the state's Commercial Feed LawNew Mexico Commercial Feed Law and Rule.
Samples are analyzed by NMDA's Office of the State Chemist. Staff also monitor for BSE ("Mad Cow Disease") in cooperation with the US Food and Drug Administration to assure compliance with the BSE Rule.
